renovation

New Hope Project is in the process of renovating the 500 block of Xenia Avenue.

Once a thriving business corridor, this area of Dayton has considerable potential for redevelopment to bring needed businesses, services and entertainment to the neighborhood. The block already contains a Head Start program of the Miami Valley Child Development Center

The Board of Directors is creating a strategic plan in early 2024 in order to pursue the highest good for the buildings and the community. We anticipate the following renovations as part of this project:

The Federation Theater was built in the 1920's and showed movies until the 1960's

The old Federation Theater offers the opportunity to offer family-friendly movies again on Xenia Avenue.  The theatre will once again serve as an anchor for the neighborhood and a source of connection and fun. The site could also offer work opportunities for neighbors.

The auditorium could also host training and community events as well as community plays and concerts. New Hope Church would use the site as a sanctuary on Sundays.

Xenia Avenue has become a food desert, with only a few viable options for a meal.

A few areas within the 500 block could provide reasonably priced food as well as employment opportunities for our neighbors.

Food options are critical to transforming Xenia Avenue
